Training in India
Training in a Traditional Way
One of the unique aspects of Kalari is that knowledge is passed on from teacher to student usually by spending time and/or living together. It is recommended that students attend retreats/camps or visit India to train in a Kalari pit and experience this. Lalita started training at the Dharmikam Ashram in 2009 and visits every year for ongoing intensive training in Kalari Ayurvedic Treatments/Massage/Medicine making and Kalaripayattu martial arts.
The Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram
The Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram is a special place, where a unique mix of martial art (Kalaripayattu), healing (Kalari Chikilsa) and spiritual traditions are practiced. It is situated in rural Kerala, south of the state's capital, Thiruvananthapuram. At the ashram, treatments, spiritual practices and martial art training are all guided by instructors who have trained in the lineage of Sat Guru Hanuman Das. It is a beautifully maintained tropical haven, which makes it the perfect place to heal, meditate and nurture one's inner peace.
Swamiji, Sat Guru Hanuman Das (also known as Balachandran Nair) was the founder of the Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram and Indian School of Martial Arts (ISMA). Swamiji was an internationally renowned martial arts warrior and healer. He was a master of Kalaripayattu and Marma Chikilsa. He has preserved the ancient traditions of Kalari and dedicated his life to upholding the teachings in their most pristine form. His knowledge of Kalari was rich with the wisdom passed down through generations of Kalari masters.
